Fremantle Harbour.

I headed down to Margaret River - 4 hours south of Perth for the weekend.
Unusual shaped shells that I found on the beach.

A Blue Tongued lizard - he wasn't too keen to get his photo taken as he tried to hide in the bushes then stuck his tongue out at me - cheeky!!!
One of the lovely beaches at Margaret River.

I had a few nice walks around Margaret River and the beach and found lots of beautiful wild flowers.
Ollie the Owl was the runt of his litter and the staff at Eagle Heritage Centre rescued him by hand feeding him which means he could never be released into the wild so he now has a job as an "Educational Bird'.
Lots of birds are rescued with injuries and cared for at the rescue centre - the aim is release as many as possible back into the wild but some would not be able to survive so get a permanent home here. Less than 2% of these birds of prey born in the wild live to breeding age - 68 % due to the natural 'survivor of the fitness' process the rest down to the damage people do to the environment such as using chemicals to kill insects that the birds then eat the insects.I caught up with my not so small nephew - Ben and his mum Marie whilst I was in Margaret River. Last time I saw Ben he was only ten and about 1/4 of the height!! But it was good to see them.
When I got back to Perth Stevie was on nights so I stayed with some friends of his - Cath, Liam and Jaimie. Liam and Jaimie are having a 'who has most coloured tongue' competition here :-)
Chom Poo Moo liked Jaimie and asked if she could share her bed for a few nights - she was delighted when we missed our flight to Alice Springs and got to stay an extra night.
Patch and Missie (Jaimie & Liam's pups).
Some colourful finches and the cheeky cockatiel!!
I had a great time in Perth and loved spending time with Stevie (who luckily had a few days off) and Shauna. Thanks to Stevie and his flatmate Shannon for the B & B facilities and of course to Cath and the kids for looking after me as well. Especially when I arrived with the cold it was great being somewhere where I could just relax and chill out.
Perth is a lovely city and really laid back and it was great to spend time with old friends and get away from the 'travellers chat' for a while'. Always good to get a view of a city from people who live there as well as I got to see so much more than I normally do (Stevie's chauffer and tour services are recommended). I can certainly see how so many people end up moving over here from the UK.
