It didn´t take too long after arriving in Anguilla (Caribean) to see why Kate & Kurt had chosen it for their wedding with these beautiful beaches.
Then of course there was the friendly locals...
The Scottish Girls get together for Kate´s official Hen Night - Aileen, Kate, Shona and me; For those of you who don´t know we all went to university together a few(!!) of years ago.
Wouldn´t be a hen night without some drinking games that ended up with Kate having to down some shots.
Any excuse for everyone else to join in......
Now we know where Santa Clause goes for his holidays!!
Kate had her own private escort to the next bar from these hunky (well some in the hen party thought so!!) New Zealanders!!!
So as Anguilla is a small island it was no surprise that the Hen and Stag parties ended up at the same bar - not many brides can say their dad and brother crasher their Hen Doo!!
And then there was a debate between the Hen & Stag as to whose night out was having most fun - of course the girls won without a doubt......though the boys got better when we turned up :-)
Aileen & Ceri enjoying the fun.
No idea whose idea it was to get behind the bar but as they had almost been drunk out of alcohol no one was complaining!
Some dancing......
Not sure if Kurt was trying to match the girls dance moves or just stand up but he did´t even have an excuse as his groomsmen drank have of his shots when we made him play the same game that Kate had to earlier!!
To help with the hangovers Kate´s dad Allan had organised a BBQ Beach lunch the next afternoon.
This was our water taxi out to the boat for our sunset cruise.
And the Catamaran that we were on....
Kate and her dad Allan.
Aileen and her dad Alistair.
The Crew show us how to catch a fish.
Everyone enjoys a few drinks on the boat before we get back to land.
Back on the beach for the Rehersal dinner which was delicious.
Kate & Kurt then share the story with evertyone about how they met.
After dinner there was of course some dancing on the beach.
But it all got a bit too much for Ceri who took some time out.....
After the beach party a few of us headed to a local bar to hear a band - they were good BUT the local guys ´gyrating´ technique was not really my sort of dancing and I had to explain to my dance partner the concept of personal space (no I didn´t hit him) - he seemed to find it quite amusing right enough and asked me if I was married then if I was Catholic!!! But it was good fun

The wedding band may have been finished but the party continued when we all moved to the beach bar - impressively the bride and groom were the last people standing.
The Newlyweds the morning after their big day.
Chilling out by the pool the day after the wedding.
Ben and Brandy were being a bit more productive than the rest of us right enough!!
One last night out before everyone head´s home - and I head off to my next adventure.
Shona says goodbye to our very friendly neighbour who would walk to the beach with us and even stole and hid my sandal one night!!
It was great catching up with people from home those that I met in DC (or one of the other places that Kate has worked over the years). Everything went really - Kate & Kurt (and numerous others) had put a lot of effort into the planning which certainly paid off. Though sad to say goodbye to everyone I left them all to go back home (to work) so sure it was sadder for them than me as I headed off to my next destination.......
